Our story begins in 2016, when the government sells a prime piece of land, originally earmarked for affordable housing, to a private developer. This blatant disregard for the urgent housing needs of Cape Town residents gave rise to a social justice movement, Reclaim the City.
Through the deeply personal story of activist Nkoskhona Swartboo, Mother City traces, over a period of six years, David's fierce battle against Goliath in a city still scarred by spatial apartheid.
