Dear Friends, Family, Colleagues, and Supporters,
A couple years ago, I filmed the documentary, An African Election, with a purpose in mind - to support Africans who want to be a part of creating their own future by taking part in their electoral process and building democracy. Today, this dream is coming true with the launch of a mobile-cinema democracy outreach project in Africa called A Political Safari.
I depart for Ghana next month to journey through rural and marginalized communities and screen An African Election as part of this project to inspire communities with a positive vision of African democracy. We are rigging up a truck with a screen, projector, and generator - basically a movie theater on wheels - to go places where people don't have access to electricity, the internet, or even cinema, and bring this transformative film to people - especially youth and women - who want and must be part of the political process.
Today, we launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise $32,000 to fund this mobile-cinema and hopefully bring A Political Safari to 9 more African countries. These community screening events are an important part of our plan to join with local experts and international partners to hold workshops and develop voter resources that support and facilitate dialogue across ideological, socio-economic and ethnic boundaries.
Now is your chance to join with other supporters in making this unique and important campaign a reality. Take part in our movement to strengthen and support the next generation of democratic African leaders and voters.
