Jane Gillooly is an independent producer / director and educator living in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Her most recent non-fiction film is TODAY THE HAWK TAKES ONE CHICK.
Witnessing the highest HIV infection rate in the world and the lowest life expectancy, three grandmothers in Swaziland demonstrate their creative efforts to rescue a rural community on the verge of collapse.

Today The Hawk Takes One Chick moves delicately through verite footage and intimate conversations, simultaneously showing the beauty, humor, joy, and deeply held spiritual beliefs of a community, and how these qualities are in stark contrast with the urgency of everyday life.

These women refuse to abandon their families to a world dictated by AIDS, drought and poverty. They seize every opportunity to feed their children, educate their neighbors and bring needed healthcare to their isolated valley.
We are left to ponder one grandmother's question: "What will happen when all the grannies are dead?"
